Taking Contracts to the Next Level: How oneNDA and Law Insider Are Redefining Legal Standardisation

When we started oneNDA, we knew the legal industry needed something different. Contracts were too long, too complicated, and too inefficient. Lawyers were spending hours on documents that essentially said the same thing but in slightly different ways. The whole process was outdated, and we wanted to change that.

So, we set out with one simple goal: standardise the NDA. Make it easy, make it accessible, and remove the unnecessary layers of complexity. The response from the legal community was incredible. In just a few short years, 4,000 organisations across 56 countries adopted oneNDA. It was clear that lawyers wanted something different—they wanted simplicity, clarity, and speed. They wanted contracts to be easier.

But as we grew, we quickly realised that NDAs were only the tip of the iceberg. The need for standardisation was, and is, far bigger than that. Lawyers everywhere are burdened by slow, repetitive contract processes, and the problem isn’t limited to one type of contract. From cloud services agreements to master services contracts, the legal industry as a whole suffers from inefficiency.

The success of oneNDA proved that standardisation could work. But to truly make an impact, we needed to think bigger. We needed to expand. The challenge wasn’t just about fixing NDAs anymore—it was about transforming how contracts are managed across the board. We had the momentum, but we needed the right infrastructure to scale that mission globally.

That’s where Law Insider comes into the picture.

For over 10 years, Law Insider has been the go-to platform for contract research, with the largest public contract database in the world. Lawyers rely on Law Insider for access to millions of contracts and clauses that help them draft, negotiate, and finalise deals faster. With over 3 million registered users and millions of contracts downloaded annually, their reach is vast.

So, it made perfect sense for oneNDA to join forces with Law Insider. This wasn’t just about adding another template to their platform. It was about taking what we’d built with oneNDA - our principles of standardisation, simplicity, and efficiency - and scaling that across an entire library of contracts.

Why Standardisation Matters

The legal industry is complex by nature, but not all of that complexity is necessary. In fact, much of it is a result of tradition, rather than practical need. Lawyers spend hours customising contracts for each new deal or client, despite the fact that many of these contracts contain the same basic terms. This is particularly true for contracts like NDAs, but it also applies to a wide range of other documents - employment contracts, master services agreements, licensing deals, and more.

The idea behind oneNDA was always to prove that there’s a better way. And we did. By providing a standardised template for NDAs, we were able to eliminate hours of back-and-forth and endless redlining. Contracts that used to take days or weeks to finalise could now be signed in a fraction of the time.

But why stop there? If standardisation can work for NDAs, why can’t it work for other types of contracts?

Expanding the Mission

The acquisition by Law Insider allows us to move beyond NDAs and tackle the inefficiencies plaguing other types of contracts. With Law Insider’s vast database and our commitment to standardisation, we’re creating an expansive library of contract standards. These templates will cover a wide range of documents, offering the same simplicity and clarity that made oneNDA successful.

This is about more than just templates, though. It’s about creating a new way of working - one that doesn’t rely on drafting contracts from scratch every time a new deal comes in. Instead, we’ll be offering pre-built, standardised contracts that are ready to go, cutting down on time spent negotiating minor details and allowing lawyers to focus on the more complex and strategic aspects of their work.

The Power of AI

Technology is another key element in this evolution. Law Insider has been at the forefront of legal tech for years, and together we’re developing AI-powered tools that will make contracting even more efficient. Imagine being able to upload a third-party contract and have an AI instantly compare it to a standardised template, flagging any discrepancies or potential risks. Or using AI to suggest revisions based on best practices and legal principles.

These tools are designed to take the burden off lawyers and speed up the contracting process without sacrificing legal accuracy or protection. It’s about working smarter, not harder.

What’s Next?

The acquisition of oneNDA by Law Insider is a natural progression in our journey to streamline the way we handle contracts. The legal industry has been slow to embrace change, but we’ve already seen the demand for standardisation and efficiency grow. The success of oneNDA has shown that lawyers are ready for a new way of working - one that saves time, reduces frustration, and gets deals done faster.

By joining forces with Law Insider, we’re now able to take that mission to a much larger stage. We’re expanding our library of contract templates, developing cutting-edge AI tools, and continuing to push for greater efficiency across the contracting process.

The goal remains the same: make contracts easier. But now we have the reach, the technology, and the infrastructure to make that vision a reality on a global scale.

So, if you’ve been with us since the early days of oneNDA, get ready for more. More tools, more Standards, and more ways to make your job easier. And if you’re new to the journey, welcome. We’re just getting started.
